Paddington, London
Ok so we landed in London early this morning and we discovered that our luggage was broken when we got it off the luggage thingy. Not a good sign...luckily I told Randy that I was gonna file a claim with United to see if we could get some kind of compensation. They were extremely helpful and the guy went took me to a closet where they replace broken luggage. They found one similar to the type that we had and they gave it to us. I was actually quite surprised how easy and painless that was!
After the whole airport fiasco we hopped on the Tube to Paddington Station, home to our reservations for the night. It was too early for us to check in and we were hungry so we decided on fish and chips since the last time we were here it was one of our favorites. It was pouring rain when we got there so I didn't get a picture of the outside. Maybe when we return at the end of our trip I'll remember to grab a shot of it....yah right. With my memory??
This is our tiny cheap room at Crown Hyde Park Hotel. I think it was like 70 pounds per night...I couldn't get the picture of the outside of this place either...
Ok this is why i'm FREEEEKING OUT. As I was winding down to take a nap, I noticed a little critter crawling on my bed. I woke Randy up and asked him what a bed bug looked like since I've never seen one. It just so happened that the wi-fi went down just as we checked into the hotel so I couldn't google it. I killed it and wrapped him up in a piece of toilet paper and saved him till I could log in to google. We did a quick swipe of the room and found nothing so I tried not to think about it and took a nap.I woke up about an hour later and headed straight to the computer. I googled bed bugs and look what I found :O AAAAGGGHHHHH!!! I'm totally grossed out right now.
Randy went down to the front desk to ask if they had any kind of bug
spray that we could use. He said the guy was unhelpful and that we
could put in a complaint to the manager later on today. We're supposed
to come back here at the end of our trip for 3 more nights. Hmmm...that
reservation just got cancelled and we booked another hotel down the
street.
Let's hope he doesn't have any brothers or sisters hiding out here tonight. We're off to Berlin tomorrow and I'm hoping for an uneventful day...

Uh oh.... I hope the rest of your trip turns out better! Not a good sign so far.
I know! I got the itchies now just thinking about it!!
Ummm...not to freak you out more, but you better check your luggage. Those critters travel with you if you're not careful. =( You don't want to be "Those people" who brought bedbugs to a clean hotel. Hahaha.
Easy way to check is to strip off the sheets and look at the ribbing of the mattress where it connects to the padding. If you see little brown dots, you gots some buggies. I always check when I am staying at a new place.
We kinda checked and we didn't see anything. I hope it's not from the closet that the dude gave us our luggage!! Shoot, I gotta double check the mattress now. I checked a quick one but never checked at the ribbing. Notice that I'm still up? I slept for a little bit but I got the heebeejeebees and woke up. It doesn't help that Randy wants to sleep with the lights on since the critters probably like to move around in the dark :|
Oh, what a nightmare! Hope that was the last of the bugs. Off to Berlin!! Have a great trip...I've been to West Germany, didn't make it East. Love the country. Look forward to reading your posts!!
So far he was the only one we found...I just hope we didn't pick him up from somewhere, the plane, when we held our luggage downstairs since we couldn't check in for a few hours...there better not be any hiding in my suitcase!!! I'm hoping for better luck in Berlin. I'll keep you posted :)
The fish and chips look yummy!! Oi yoi yoi to the bed bug . . . which reminds me . . . gonna check my trap-a-roach now . . . hang on . . .
Eh, not that great . . . 3 traps and only one small roach. Hahahaha!
4th floor looking better. The film guy came today and took all the film. Only thing . . . he said he couldn't take the barrels and brought um all back. Ack.
Miss you already. Looking forward to Berlin.
The fish and chips were really good...now I wanna get some Indian food. The last time we were here it was really yummy.
Freakin bed bug. I hardly slept a wink last night. I hope I can sleep on the plane to Berlin (i'm sure that's not gonna be a problem!!)
That's hilarious about the barrels. Maybe he's telling you that he wants you to fill um up again! Miss you too. Pray for me that there's no bugs in in our next room.
I feel itchy now...those things freak me out. Whenever we travel or go staycation in Waikiki that is the first thing I check ---the beds!
Hi Michele...y'know, for the amount that we travel, and the kind of places we stay, I NEVER once checked the bed for bugs. I guess I've been lucky and it was bound to happen one day. Luckily we didn't find anymore than that one. I guess we gotta be more careful!! yikes!
