Buenos Aires Day 3

La Alameda Tour
Friday, April 17, 2009

We went to a town called Chascomus, about 2 hrs out of Buenos Aires. It's a town where most of the cattle for Argentina.
This is my favorite "gaucho..." sorry, didn't get his name. No one spoke english here! Isn't he cute? :)

This is the first time Randy and I have ever ridden a horse...Randy went first...

Then it was my turn...it was scary!

I was getting worried cause no one would help me off this thing!

This is Lake Chascomus

Here's our lunch....yum!

Randy made a friend...how could we resist?

He had so much fun the first time, he wanted to try again...

This is our guide Veronica

Ok, there were llamas (at least I think it was a llama!), dogs and horses, but where were the cows? hmmmm...

Randy wanted to get a picture of my ha-yuuge bag...it's not that big, is it?

We saw a traditional folk dance show

This was some kind of game where they have to poke a stick through this loop while riding a horse...

Veronica teaching us how to drink mate...eewwww...I didn't like it.

What a beautiful day it was today!

Day 2 Buenos Aires

Sights around town...
Ok, you'll have to forgive me...I didn't sleep well on the plane, nor did I get a good night's sleep last night also. We took a three hour walking tour today (which turned into a 1 hr walking/2 hr driving), so of course, I passed out in the car, and also got a little car sick. I have pictures but hardly any information. If Randy remembers, he'll update me and I'll put more info on this post...this is Plaza de Mayo

This is our guide Luciano...he was really smart and gave us A LOT of info, I feel bad for falling asleep!

This is where I perked up...I really wanted to go to Caminito St. in a part of town called La Boca. I heard even though it's a touristy area, it's not very safe. I was excited when he took us here!

This is the River in La Boca, I forgot the name and when I googled it, everything was in Spanish! I think it's River Plate...?

Here is the Recoleta Cemetery where Eva Peron was put to rest. It is the most beautiful cemetery I've ever been to.

I really should've been listening to our guide but I decided to take pictures of cats and cobwebs instead...sorry Luciano! :)

Here is Eva Peron's gravesite. I would've taken more pictures but there wasn't much room and a lot of people started coming around...

We ate empanadas for dinner...Jalna, our empanadas didn't look or taste nearly as good as these! We gotta try again!!

Day 1 Buenos Aires

Wednesday, April 15, 2009
Microcentro, Florida St

After a rocky start (a 3 hr delay in Dallas due to engine trouble and a 10 hr flight), we finally arrived in Buenos Aires. Unfortunately, or problems didn't end there...this is where Randy left his phone and when we went back to get it the guy said it wasn't there...hmmm....

Please excuse the crappy post-processing, I'm working with a very tiny computer and Photoshop Elements 2.0. I'll try my best! :)

Looking at wallets on the street....

Randy trying to figure out the subway map, uh, anyone know Spanish??

We went to San Telmo for dinner...

I ordered the chorizo sausage, and the guy was trying to tell me that it was "small" and I said, that it was gonna be ok. I thought it was gonna be a plate...

But for only 4 pesos, I guess you only get the sausage! hahahaha! But that was ok cause we ordered salad and this pesto rice and it was enough for me. But check it out, it's soooo cheap here (sorry, I forgot to take pictures of the rest of the food...too hungry!):

$1 = 3.66 pesos

Our dinner consisted of this - chorizo sausage, a ribeye steak, pesto rice, 2 salads, mineral water AND a bottle of champagne =

196 pesos!!!

What is that like $60?? Incredible...

A bar we found to have a drink afterwards...

Randy drunk at the subway station...uh oh, we know how this is gonna go!

Passed out back at the room...geez, he takes up more room than Mattie!! In case you don't know who Mattie, is he's my big dog!

Jalna's experience at Kakaako Park...

Kakaako Park
Sunday, April 5, 2009

Ok, so after our peeps photoshoot we went to Kakaako Park to see if there were any more "Peep Places" we could take pictures of. We couldn't find any so I asked Jalna if she knew about the little "cement stage" that you stand on and you can hear your voice echo...so here she is...

"Hello? Hello? What the...??"

But what is she doing now?

Yup! You guessed it! She grabbed her new camera phone so she could video her experience! You can see her video clip here.
You should watch it. It's pretty hilarious!
