Bye bye my friends...hello Mt. Cook!

My little adventure in Oamaru had come to an end and we headed 2 1/2 hours north to Aoraki/Mt. Cook.  But before we left we still had to head to the Moeraki Boulders for the sunrise and a sheep shearing demonstration to go to!  Oamaru ain't gonna get rid of me that quickly!

These didn't come out as good as I had hoped, but I guess they're good enough.  Plus the sunrise wasn't as vibrant as I hoped.

When we got back to the house these little guys were waiting for us.  Poor thing, they look so scared.  But I don't blame them, they're gonna be naked!

After a long drive we made it to Mt. Cook.  Since our stargazing tour didn't start till 8:30 we took a short hike to Kea Point.

Lets just say I wasn't too impressed.  I hiked a half an hour for this?!?  I was expecting something spectacular!

I was bummed about our stargazing tour, it was crystal clear skies for most of the night and when they finally let us take pictures a whole bunch of clouds came around.  I got about  5 minutes of clear skies, and two of them were interrupted with people flashing their cameras while I was shooting a 30 second exposure.  I was not happy.  I purposely moved away from everyone so they wouldn't get in my way and they freakin followed me.

I gotta get more practice with this. I have no idea how people do it.  You have to manually focus but you can barely see anything.  How do you know if you're in focus?!?!?

gnite!

Pretty, pretty, pretty!. What's the scoop on the round boulders? How come they're like that? I gonna look it up. You're probably on your way home by now.

Beats me! I just thought they were pretty too! I'm at the airport waiting to fly back to Auckland. Free wifi! prolly getting a whole bunch of viruses too....

I couldn't resist popping over from Jalna's blog. I love it that you posted these photos of the Moeraki geodes. We spent two weeks in NZ and loved it. These photos bring back the memories.
