The Teradas

Heeia State Park

Hmmmm....out of all the pics that I take of my sister's family (yah, I know, not that much!) I don't think i've ever taken their family Christmas pics.  Don't blame only me though!  We can never get our schedules straight.  I was feeling like crap today, i've been sick for the last few days but I figured if I don't do it now I'd never get another chance.

Kinda cute...I didn't even have to tell them to pose.  They just hopped to it!

I wonder how long it will be before I do this again...

Brrr...but I love it!

Saturday, November 8, 2014

We woke up this chilly morning and went for a walk around the city...
IMG_1717

Didn't take any pics, my hands were too cold.  It was gonna be a beautiful day.  Not a cloud in the sky.  We went to Supper for an early lunch - we didn't eat dinner last night, I wasn't feeling well.  Thank god Supper opened at 10.  Randy was in the mood for some pasta.

He ordered Orecchiette with broccoli rabe & Italian sausage.  It was ok.
IMG_1723

I got Spaghetti al Limone.  I read about it on yelp.  It really doesn't look like much but it was delicious!
IMG_1724

If you look closely you can see the Empire State Building in the background.  That's what I get when I'm too lazy to bring my camera.  Sometimes the camera phone isn't that great...
IMG_1726

We headed for Chelsea Market, Randy was still hungry :-O.  I've actually never been here, but it was a madhouse in there.  I think everyone in the city was in this one area at the same time.
IMG_1728

Los Tacos No. 1 - he ordered a carne asada taco and a cactus (I forget the Mexican name) one.  They were both really good.
IMG_1729

I guess that wasn't enough food because he wanted some oysters after that.
IMG_1731

IMG_1733

Taking some selfies on the Highline...
IMG_1734

IMG_1746

Yes.  He's still hungry.  He said he didn't eat "meat" that's why.  I guess Carne Asada doesn't count.  He wanted a sandwich.  A freakin big ass salami sandwich.
IMG_1739

A stoopid bird pooped on my shoe on the way back.  But one shit on Randy's shoulder so I guess I can't complain.
IMG_1738

IMG_1742

He even got a little more salami to snack on for later...
IMG_1743

At about 10:00 he went to grab a pizza from down the street.  It was ok,  I didn't bother taking a pic of it.  Tomorrow is our last day in the city.  I'm not ready to go home yet :(

It's cold!

New York City

We didn't have anything planned today.  I asked Randy if he ever rode the Staten Island Ferry, and he said no!  What?  It's free and it's a pretty nice ride.  Off we went to the 1 South Street to get on the ferry.

Had to pick up one of those $2.50 breakfast sandwiches...they're so good!  The bread is always soo soft
IMG_1698

IMG_1699

It was a beautiful day, but it was COLD! It was in the 40s, add the wind from the boat and you're freezing!
IMG_1700

IMG_1702

IMG_1703

I'm still mad that Randy's phone takes better pictures than mines.
IMG_1705

For lunch we were jonezing for a burger...a steak burger...yummmm
IMG_1707

IMG_1709

I asked Randy if we could just share one cause I wasn't that hungry.  He wasn't happy.
IMG_1710

Holy crap.  This was a good burger.
IMG_1711

I thought this was cool.  It's a couple of blocks away from our place.
IMG_1712

Union Square at dusk.  BRRRRRRRR.
IMG_1713

Have you ever had an egg creme?  I never heard of it.  It's kind of like a root beer float, except that we bought a chocolate one.  Supposedly this little liquor store makes one of the best ones.  You should try it if you ever come to the city.
IMG_1714

It's right at this corner.

The Chew!

Thursday, November 6, 2014

Cold and rainy!  We had reservations for The Chew, a cooking talk show on ABC.  We headed uptown for the taping...Yuck.

IMG_1671

IMG_1672

We had crappy seats.  Someone didn't want to wait in the rain so we headed for shelter.  Of course we lost our place in line...no food for us! :(
IMG_1673

I was gonna bring my camera but didn't want to lug it around in the rain.  Damn.  I coulda gotten better pictures.
IMG_1676

One freaky picture of Carla
IMG_1682

IMG_1683

We grabbed a hot dog after the show, all that food made us hungry.  Of course Randy decides afterwards that he wants to go to Shake Shack.  Punk.
IMG_1684

IMG_1685

I saw this place on the Cooking Channel, they make mini rice krispie treats!
IMG_1687

Cute yah!  I bought a mint chocolate and a salted caramel

Hope the weather is better tomorrow...

NYC Day 3

Wednesday, Nov 5, 2014

We woke up fairly early and Randy wanted to eat some corned beef for breakfast.  Katz Deli is super close, maybe a 5 minute walk?  They open early so we grabbed some takeout and brought it back to the apartment.
IMG_1662

Just a hop and a skip away is Russ and Daughters, a high end smoked fish/caviar shop.  They make a pastrami cured salmon that is to DIE for.  We had to grab a little to munch on.  This stuff isn't cheap, $36/lb but soooooo worth it!
IMG_1663

Breakfast!  We shared a corned beef sandwich and a side order of potato salad.  Is that a beer in the corner?  Yup!
IMG_1664

1/4 lb of pastrami smoked salmon.  We may go back there this morning for some lox and bagels.  Hope it doesn't rain.
IMG_1665

After eating all that for breakfast we didn't want to do move from the couch.  We didn't head out till noonish...We had a 2:30 check in for David Letterman!  The show was great.  Jennifer Lopez was the guest.
IMG_1668

After the show we just walked around a bit and grabbed some take out Chinese from down the street and brought it back to the apartment.  I was tired!  Crossing my fingers that the weather holds up today.  It's supposed to rain.

Need....earplugs....now....

Monday and Tuesday, November 4 and 5, 2014
NYC

I'm in New York!!  Randy and I flew in on Monday morning and are staying in a cute apartment on the lower east side.  I love the East Village.  So many places to go that are in walking distance of each other.  I like our apartment except it's on Delancey, a main street heading towards the Willamsburg bridge.  VERY NOISY.  I barely slept the first night.  Good thing Randy brought ear plugs with him so I slept a little better last night.  Still worth every penny.

IMG_2145

Our first meal of the day was The Meatball Shop.  In case you don't know, this is the first place that doctor who ended up with Ebola stopped to eat when he got back from Africa.  It's been about a week, that's long enough to wait, huh?
IMG_2147

IMG_2150

IMG_2152

It was delish.  Mines was better than Randy's  :)
IMG_2154

For the rest of the day (and probably the rest of the trip) I was using my iphone to take pics.  Since we haven't gone to anyplace new I didn't want to lug my camera all over the place.

Next stop:  The Doughnut Plant.  I can't believe how close this place is to us.  We used to take the subway over here.  It took us about 10 minutes to walk there.  Awesome!  We only picked up two donuts.
IMG_1641

IMG_1642

For dinner we headed to our favorite pizza joint, Lombardis!
IMG_1643

We got half margherita, half italian sausage.   Sooo didn't disappoint.
IMG_1644

Randy, the piggy that he is, decides that he's still hungry and wanted to try a vodka pizza at Rubyrosas, which is about a block away.
IMG_1646

Yesterday we hung out at the apartment for breakfast, I ate a slice of cold pizza :).  Randy was in the mood for some fried chicken so we walked over to Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken.  Holy crap.  This was some good chicken.  We ate at their other restaurant the last time we were here but I forgot how good it was.
IMG_1648

IMG_1649

We didn't have much planned today so I wanted to go to Times Square to visit the Hello Kitty shop...sorry, I really don't care for Times Square, it's just too crowded and too many tourists.  Seeing Hello Kitty is pretty much the only reason I'd go there.  THE DAMN STORE CLOSED DOWN.  It's empty.  No warning, nada.  I checked online on my phone and couldn't find any post saying that they moved or shut down.  BASTARDS!

Since I couldn't go there, I headed to Dylan's Candy Bar, another favorite of mine.  Low and behold, look what I saw!

IMG_1651

IMG_1652

We tried going to the MLB Fan Cave but it was locked :(
IMG_1653

After a long day of walking around, we found ourselves back in the village and close to one of my favorite ice cream stops, Big Gay Ice Cream.  The Salty Pimp is out of this world!  Soft serve ice cream injected with salted caramel, sprinkled with sea salt and then dipped in chocolate.
IMG_1656

Anyone looking for a boyfriend??
IMG_1655

We went to a restauraunt called Sauce which was a couple of blocks away from the apartment.  Holy guacamole their food was yummmm.  This is our fresh mozzarella and beefsteak tomato salad.  This picture does no justice.  It's super dark in there so this came out like crap
IMG_1658

Used the flash with this one, I ordered the fresh pappardelle pasta with bolognese and that's a little sampling of Randy's calamari.
IMG_1660

g'nite!
