Cake Pops, Take Two

Friday, February 18, 2011

When I first got my cake pops book, I went online to see what other people were making. Bakerella, the author of the book that my sister gave me, had these Hello Kittys on her site. They were ADORABLE. I had to give it a try.

Baking really sucks when you live in Hawaii. On days like this when it's hot and humid, your chocolate doesn't harden and it ends up ruining your day. I started dunking my pops around 3pm today, it is now 9:30 and I finished 3 pops. Not only that, 6 of my pops slid off the stick so now I have little Hello Kittys with holes at the top and bottom of their head. I hope the weather is better tomorrow cause I still have another batch in the fridge waiting to be dunked into chocolate >:(

Note to self: Don't make cake pops when it's humid. Also, wait until the chocolate is completely dry before trying to draw the faces on. You will just ruin it. GRRRRRRRRRR....

Thanks! I didn't even think about the humidity when I started today. I think I wanna move to Vegas or something...

For what its worth, I think they are cute! I heard these are a bitch to make... I give you credit. Try putting them in the freezer- that might help. AIBento blog tried making these awhile back and she said it took her forever too. Laura made them too- I think she didn't have as much problems since she's in Washington. Don't give up!

I finally put them in the fridge after 4 stinkin hours. The only thing is that when they did finally harden it was hard to draw on them cause of the light condensation. I don't want to pat it dry too much, I fear that it will start to smear. What to do...what to do...i'm having hard time with the pen too. Maybe I should try a different brand. I wish I tried these first. I didn't have a humidity problem at all for my valentines ones!

They are adorable, anyway, Les! This is not something I would want to try I don't think.

hahahhaah! Thanks Jalna...I hope you ate it this time. Hey, did you eat the other ones yet? I hope so or else you'd better throw them out. Or you can use them for a science experiment. Might be interesting.
