Las Vegas

Las Vegas...sort of...

Randy and I went to Las Vegas for the weekend to celebrate our 6th anniversary. Since there's not much to take pictures of in Vegas I only busted out my camera one day. That day we started off going to M&M Soul Food Cafe. We've been there before and before we left I told Randy that I wanted to eat some waffles and wings. I don't know my geography too well but we traveled West, towards Red Rock...is that still considered Vegas??

Anyways, the food here is great, I don't know if it's authentic, I've never been to the south. But who cares? The food is absolutely yummy and the staff here is really nice
Both of us ordered the Chicken and Waffles for breakfast. Both were excellent, and I'm not a breakfast food person. I'd rather eat a soup and salad for breakfast than eggs and bacon...but these waffles were incredible!!
I don't know if you can read this but it's on Valley View and Charleston
In the Westgate shopping center...
After breakfast Randy thought he'd be a nice guy and let me take pictures out at Red Rock Canyon. Except look what we ran into! Rain! and Wind! ugh!
What? It was freezing and raining! I'd hate to see the sign in the summertime...I wonder if it's on fire.
Since we didn't stop at the canyons, we decided on going to Hoover Dam instead. We missed the cut off so when we turned around we got out and stretched our legs. Here's Randy in front of what we thought was the Tillman bridge...
Haha. nope that wasn't it. It was further down the road.
It is on the border of Nevada and Arizona
It's kinda neat...you walk across the bridge while looking over the Hoover Dam. It does get kind of freaky if you're afraid of heights! And it was COLD!! Low 50s and windy!!
Randy stole the camera for the rest of the excursion

We returned to M&M Cafe the next day because Randy noticed someone ordering pork chops on another table. Another winner! You should order it with the gravy on the side because it's just as delicious without the gravy. The gravy is a bonus! I ordered the corned beef hash and eggs. Those were yummy too. I didn't bring my camera that time because this was our shopping day and I didn't want to deal with it at the malls...

MGM Grand, Las Vegas

I'm in Vegas right now and my little picture card reader thingy isn't working. I was gonna blog the little pictures that I did take while I was here. I didn't take that much but it was enough for another post! I'll be back home on Monday so I guess I'll have to post it then. See you in a couple of days!

Ok, gotta go, I hear the casino calling me...

Joanne, Greg, Nikola, minus the wind...

Kakaako Park

So we thought we'd try again, hopefully without all the crazy wind this time, at Kakaako Park after work. The conditions were perfect, but Nikola wasn't in the picture taking mood today. I tried to grab as much shots as I could in between the whimpers, I think at least a few of these are keepers!
Jalna joined me a little later with her wonderful umbrella...I just wish we could get our flashes to cooperate!
one, two, three, ok everybody BLINK! ahahahahaaa!
Jalna wanted to get creative so she ran in back of them with a flash

Joanne, Greg, and Baby Nikola

Baby Makapuu

Baby Nikola just turned 100 days on November 1st and Joanne wanted to photograph this milestone...

We went back to the site of her pregnancy pics, but unfortunately the wind was very overwhelming this time! Nikola was a trooper though, not one little whimper! I think I was the only one whining about the wind!

Halloween at Kathy's House...

Kathy's House, Kaneohe, HI

I know this is late but i've been busy and tired (or should I say lazy and tired??) and I couldn't get myself to sit down at the computer to post process these. Anyways, we had a halloween party at Kathy's house this year, all the kiddies and most of the adults got dressed up and had a good time! Here's some of the goodies we made:

Pumpkin chocolate chip cupcakes
chocolate graveyard pudding cups
My attempt at making mummy cookies...note to self: use cookie dough that is actually designed to be cutout!! Chocolate chip doesn't really work...
ghost pizza
mummy hot dogs - cute yah?
Anne made all the decorations, I swear I don't know where she finds the time!
It wouldn't be party unless Hello Kitty was present somewhere!
Anne the rice paddy worker
Super Q!
Super Q and Super Mommy!
Looks like the scary lady is trying to do the hula...
Notice her trash bag cape and clothespin weapons?
The kids lining up for their fashion show

That was fun Kat! Let's NEVER do this again! I was exhausted!! :)
