My friend Jake...

Children and Youth Day

This is Jake Shimabukuro. You may have heard of him. I first met him back in '96 when I graduated from xray school. My brother in law, Tracey Terada produced his album when he was with the group Pure Heart. Tracey invited them to play at my graduation party and who would've known that Jake would end up as this HUGE international ukulele player?

Well, the reason why I'm blogging about him is 1, I haven't seen him in ages, and 2, I just want you to know that he's as nice in person as he is on stage. He would always go out of his way to say hello and give my family a hug whenever we saw him, no matter how busy he was. He was one of the performers at the children's festival and of course it attracted a lot of people. Tons of people patiently waited in line after the performance to get a quick picture and autograph, and he stayed around to talk to each and every one of them.

oh yah, mom he said to hell you hi. :)

When I first looked at your photos, I thought that is not Jake. He looks really different without his glasses on. How neat to know someone so special!!
