I Love Liliha

Sunday, August 29, 2010

I was finally able to attend this year's I Love Liliha Festival because they changed it to a Sunday! It's been on Saturdays in the past and I've always been working and couldn't attend. Also, as a bonus, they moved it to Kuakini St, which is literally a hop, skip and a jump from my house. I went to the festival early (with the dreaded 100mm macro in hand, I thought I'd do a little experimenting -- big mistake!!) and I was planning on returning later on in the afternoon but it got so darn hot that I didn't want to leave my air conditioned house after lunch!

It was a very tiny festival, and for those of you who know the area, it started from here (at the intersection of Kuakini and Liliha St)
And it ended here! Hahaha! If you don't know this, Long's and Liliha Bakery are next door neighbors!
The Royal Hawaiian Band started off the festivities
There were lots of free activities for the kiddies
I was wondering what all the commotion was about over here, then I noticed it was a booth from Creations By You
You could make your own little trinket
oooh, my favorite! I was a good girl and didn't buy one.
I met up with my neighbors, here's Dustin spinning the wheel hoping to win something good...
Something tells me I should've stopped by this booth...
It got really hot and i'm sure the shave ice booth made a lot of money!
I hope they plan on keeping it on Sundays from now on!

UGH!! OHMYGAWWWWD!! Everything was so tight in there that I couldn't any shots that I had liked without getting in everyone's way! And the darn sun! Cloudy, bright, cloudy, bright...couldn't mama nature just make up her mind??? sooo frustrating!

Buddy016Your shots look great to me! That 100mm seems to have worked out well. I wish I had time to go. May be next year!

Oh Erick, you could've hopped, skipped, and jumped over with me! Too bad you couldn't make it, even for a half an hour cause that's all you needed! :D haha!

Yah Betty, it was cute...I'm happy that it was so close to my house!!

Seemed like had plenty of fun and food. We went to the Tenrikyo Bazaar up the street that day. It was crowded, rainy, food was ok. Are you going to the Okinawan Festival? Uchinanchu!

Wow, I never ever even knew about the Tenrikyo Bazaar...it rained? It was soooo hot that day I didn't realize rain was even possible! Not sure about the Okinawan Festival yet, it's always super crowded and HOT over there too! I probably should go to celebrate with my fellow uchinanchu's!! :)
