Les & Randy's North Shore Excursion

Saturday, January 9, 2010
North Shore, Oahu

I've been wanting to take pictures on the other side of the island for quite sometime now, and I finally got a day when both Randy and I were free. Of course, the luck that I always have, there was VOG. I was so disappointed....

Anyways, first stop, Waimea Bay. Unfortunately the swell had gone down quite a bit so there wasn't much for surfing today.
We then headed off to Pipeline...
Can you see this? There's like 6 or 7 girls here with 2 guys! They must've been happy!
Even with all the no swimming signs posted everywhere, these doofus' still decided to go in...
The Volcom house...
Randy checking out the surf, like always...
This is so cute...it's a little area for the guys from the Volcom House to sit and check out the waves
Cute name for a beach yah?

Les, these photos are awesome!!! Kualoa Beach, one of my favorite spots. My dad use to take us kids there a lot when we were growing up.

Thanks Betty! I haven't been there in years, it was nice to go back!

Nevah look like the vog affected your shots. I think some of your photos have Canon contest potential - Hawaii No Ka Oi.

The vog actually affected a lot of my shots, it just depended which way I was facing...I had to delete PLENTY!!

Canon?? Don't tease me, I can't take much more rejection!! hahahahaa!

Looks like you had a fun day. Too bad the sky was so washed out. Your shots still came out great. I really love the fisheye Kahana Bay shot, that is a fantastic angle of the bay. Very nice!

Great pictures, Les!!! I just love the one of Kahana. Where did you take it from and what lens did you use. Also love the one of Randy sitting on that wall at Kualoa Park.

Thanks Susie and Erick! Too bad we didn't bump into you guys! We were sooo close!

Susie -- the Kahana Bay shot was taken above from the road, we pulled over on the side and walked to this little opening that overlooked the bay. I tried going from the parking lot but the angle wasn't as nice. I used my fisheye for this one, my 16-35 wasn't quite wide enough.

Thoes were nice pics! I love the one of kahana, too. Yeah, you guys should have met us for some lemoneade. It was refreshing after the long drive. And i know you woulda been RIGHT-THERE with Jalna hopping over that obstructive 'NO TRESSPASSING' sign at Kualoa. She's now a CRIMINAL! Ha,ha.

Yah, I could've used a refreshing lemonade after being stuck in that stupid traffic for so long!!

Hahahaha! Yup, I would've been caught in the act right there with her! Damn! I always miss the fun stuff!
